The wedding ceremony will take place at 6pm at the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin at the old port of Rhodes' town.

Parking:

There is a big free parking area behind the church. If your accommodation is in the city, you can walk to the church. We will also have arranged some buses to drive you from the church to the wedding reception and back, in case you want to avoid taking a car.

History:

The Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Virgin, also known as Evangelismos Church, was constructed in the 1920s, during the Italian occupation of the island. The design was based on the architecture of the Medieval Gothic Church of Saint John, adjacent to the Palace of the Grand Master in the Old Town.

The church served the Italian Catholic community up until 1948 when Rhodes and the other Dodecanese Islands were reunified with mainland Greece. It was then turned into a Greek Orthodox Church and was declared the Cathedral of Rhodes.

The church was and remains part of the living history of the island and the Dodecanese. The most important part of this history took place in the church or in front of it, such as the ceremony of the unification of the Dodecanese with Greece, the enthronement of the Metropolitans of Rhodes, the celebrations and the visits of historical figures, heads of state, patriarchs, etc.
